Genesis and James
New Study Year Begins Tues., Sept. 15, 2026
This year, from Fall 2026 through Spring 2027, we will study two incredible books of the Bible that answer some of life’s ultimate questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? How should I live? Where am I going? What is my purpose?
This study is ideal for those new to studying God’s Word or for those who have been walking with Christ for a long time. It’s more than time well spent in God’s life-giving words. It is also time well spent with others who want more from life than the world can offer.
Genesis
The title Genesis, which is Greek, means “origin,” and the first word in the Hebrew of Genesis is translated “in the beginning.”
Genesis is the book of beginnings: the beginning of the world, the human race, of sin in the world, the promise of redemption, family life, civilization, the nations of the world, and the Hebrew people.
It answers the question of where you come from, where you find your identity, and even your destiny.
It is a great book that sets the stage for the rest of the Bible.
The Book of James
People have a lot of ideas and advice on how to live. There are almost endless books, podcasts, and life-coaching resources. What does the Bible say?
The Book of James has been called “A Practical Guide to Christian Life and Conduct.” It answers questions about how we should live.
It is the Proverbs of the New Testament. It acts as a moral compass, guiding you in living out the ethics of the Christian faith.
Why Study the Scriptures?
Studying the Bible gives insight into human nature, world problems, and human suffering. But beyond that, and more importantly, it reveals the way to encounter God personally and walk with Him. It is the story of salvation: the story of your redemption through Jesus Christ; the story of life, of peace, and of eternity. The message of the Bible is the message of Jesus who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). One of the greatest needs of the Church today is to return to the Word of God as the only real authority we have and to study the scriptures prayerfully depending on the Holy Spirit. When we read God’s Word, we fill our hearts with His words, and God is speaking to us.
Triangle Bible Study’s purpose is to sharpen men and women’s Bible study and life application skills so they can better live out their faith in the home, church, and marketplace. There is daily Bible reading with questions, weekly men’s and women’s small discussion groups, as well as large group teaching by Johnny and Beth Evans.
